Used on laptop computers torsion hinges allow the screen to be positioned and remain in position until the laptop is closed. On a much larger scale, these torsion hinges allow chest lids to be opened to any angle and remain at that angle until the lid is closed. Ideal for toy boxes and blanket chests, due to the design of the hinge, there is no risk of the lid moving or slamming shut on hands or fingers. Designed to fit wood 19mm thick, these hinges are cast zinc and have a satin nickel finish. Rigorously tested to 25,000 operating cycles these hinges are built to give a lifetime of reliable service. These hinges are rated for 40 inch pounds. To work out how many hinges are required for a particular project multiply the front to back depth of the lid in inches by the weight of the lid in pounds and divide the answer by 2. Use the combination of 40 inch pound hinges closest to that figure. For example, a result of 85 would require two hinges and a result of 110 would require three hinges. ©
