The key to consistent and fast honing is repeatability. This new honing guide was redesigned from scratch increasing its range, capacity and accuracy. What makes this Mk.II honing guide unique is its integral blade registration system that squares the blade and sets the bevel angle in one easy step. The Mk.II Honing Guide has three gross bevel-angle range configurations: a high-angle range from 25° to 54° in seven increments, a standard-angle range from 15° to 40° in six increments and a third range for back bevels. The registration jig slides onto the guide body, centering and squaring the blade using an integral fence. The blade stop has discrete positions for preset angles. The clamping mechanism registers on the face of the blade and is designed to accept flat and tapered blades, as well as blades with irregular geometry. The clamp bar is specifically shaped to securely hold the tool blade, preventing shifting. Once the blade is secured, the registration jig is removed. The honing guide can easily accommodate chisels as narrow as 1/4" and blades as wide as 2-7/8" and up to 1/2" thick. Also works with short blades such as spokeshave blades. Manufactured from die-cast zinc alloy, with precision-machined brass and steel parts.

What a pleasure to use my chisels are accurately sharpened no more looking for the rules to measure protrusion on cheaper guides , I thoroughly recommend this guide.

I have found this tool to be very useful in accurately sharpening chisels and plane irons. The only slight issue I have had are chisels occasionally moving out of square if you use too much pressure.
