Other brands of single species wood veneer can contain leaves that vary wildly in colour and grain from leaf to leaf. This is because there is no guarantee that the veneers are cut from the same log or even the same tree. Such packs can prove costly in time and very wasteful when trying to match up the leaves to get a consistent look to your work. All of our single species veneer packs are guaranteed sequence matched which means that not only are the veneers cut from the same log, they are also bundled together in consecutively cut leaves. This ensures perfectly matching grain pattern and colour across the work. As the leaves are consecutive these veneer packs can be used to produce a book matched, mirror image effect on your work if desired. The leaves are 48.5” in length and vary between 4.5” and 6.5” in width although all leaves within a pack will be the same width giving a regular, uniform look when leaves are glued side by side. Unbacked and sanded but not finished, these veneers will accept all kinds of finishes from oils and waxes to lacquers and varnishes and can even be stained. These high grade veneers are square cut with no bark on the edges and free of faults like knots and cracks ensuring all the veneer supplied is usable for minimum possible wastage. Please note: due to the varying density throughout the leaf the burred veneers may be slightly buckled, this is natural and will straighten out during the gluing process. The red and white oak are American species and differ in colour to English and European oak. ©
