Cocobolo is an eye-catchingly beautiful wood. When it is first cut, the hardwood displays a variety of colours including rich red, along with orange and yellow streaks. When exposed to the air it darkens to deep red or orange red with hues of black and purple. It is a very hard, dense and heavy wood, and has a straight grain, which is sometimes interlocked and can be irregular and unpredictable. It usually has a fine and uniform texture. The very distinct sapwood is almost white. Specific Gravity: 1.10
