The heartwood presents a variety of colours, it has a rich violet brown background, which can shade to nearly black, with streaks of dark violet, violet-brown and black, and occasionally yellow. The heartwood has a bright lustre, very uniform texture and a smooth surface. Conflictingly, the sapwood is almost white, but the wood is customarily exported with sapwood removed. Specific Gravity: 1.2.
