Never underestimate the value of a good axe in the workshop. This carpenter’s axe is a precision instrument for carpentry and many other woodworking tasks and projects. The cutting edge of this carpenter’s axe has an almost straight edge and is perfect for whittling and carving as well as for heavier stock removal. The straight handle is of prime American hickory, a slow growing dense timber that brings an exceptional level of strength to the axe. The head of the axe is constructed so that the hand can get as close as possible to the cutting edge for maximum control when performing fine, detailed work. Supplied with a protective sheath of tanned leather. ©
For over 100 years Wetterlings have been making axes.Today 10 blacksmiths proudly continue the tradition of producing world class axes. This means that not one axe is the same as the other and every axe that leaves the factory in Sweden has its own unique character and bears its own distinguishing mark. A hand forged Wetterlings has a hardness of 58-59 degee Rockwell. Each axe is slowly forged, a methodical task that demands time and patience and is entirely dependent upon the skill of the blacksmith. After being hammered for a long period of time the steel becomes extremely strong and can be ground to a high level of sharpness. Wetterlings turn the axe handles using brown heartwood of American hickory. This wood has the impact resistance and strength expected of an axe handle. If you want the world's finest hand made axe in terms of durability and performance buy a Wetterlings.

Name: A Dodds. Rating: 5/5
I mostly carve green wood creating large pieces such as totem poles. I find a good axe is the ideal way to rough out and remove all the excess timber before starting the details. This carpenters axe is exceptional. The short handle gives excellent control without the need to choke it. The sharp blade makes light work of the wet wood too.
