With their comparatively short blades, these hedge and boxwood shears are ideally sized for topiary and other shaped cutting and trimming where the resultant finish is extremely important. The ultra sharp blades cut very cleanly without tearing or damaging the shrub. Made from white paper steel, these blades take an exceptionally fine, sharp edge. White paper steel is made by adding nothing more than carbon to a very pure iron ore. This produces a steel with a very fine grain structure that will harden to a far higher degree than other steels. The combination of hardness and grain structure gives a superior, razor like edge that stays sharp for a very long time. To make cutting and trimming more efficient, the blades are hollow ground to reduce friction between the blade and the hedge or shrub during cutting. On top of the white paper steel, softer iron is forge welded to strengthen the blades and give support the white paper steel. This layer acts like a shock absorber protecting the harder steel form jolts and shocks that may otherwise cause damage. The two halves of the shears are held together with a nut and bolt rather than rivetted, allowing the shears to be tightened or loosened as required by the user. The handles are made from Japanese white oak and are unfinished to offer the user a firmer, non slip grip. They are also quite short, giving you much better control when making fine trimming or detailling cuts. These are exceptional shears and a valuable addition to any gardener's tool collection.
