Possibly not the most obvious of garden tools, but when you realise how useful the Japanese gardening knife is, we are certain you will be converted. Known as a hori hori knife this is an essential piece of kit to the Japanese gardener. The thick blade has a gentle curve from side to side which allows the knife to be used for scooping and digging. One edge is serrated to facilite the cutting of root balls when transplanting and repotting plants. The blade comes to a sharp point allowing the knife to penetrate hard and compacted soil and markings on the blade show how deeply the knife has entered the soil. Forged from 420J2 stainless steel, the 170mm long blade is tough, hard wearing and resistant to rust and corrosion. The blade is forged with a long, integral tang that sits deeply in the solid beech handle. The handle is contoured for a comfortable grip and has a smooth satin finish. This is a wonderful, multi purpose tool and one that replaces several other essential garden tools. The ideal companion in both garden and greenhouse for transplanting, weeding, cutting turf and digging, this is one tool you will want by your side whenever you work. Overall length 300mm.
