This traditional style grass cutting sickle is ideally sized for small to medium clearing tasks and for use between plants and shrubs. It has an ultra thin, extra sharp blade that cuts cleanly and swiftly, causing minimal damage. The blade is hand forged and crafted from two layers of steel. The bottom layer that forms the back and cutting edge of the blade is made from a thin layer of white paper steel. This is a very pure carbon steel that hardens to a far higher degree than most other steels and has a very fine grain structure. This allows the metal to take an exceptionally sharp, razor like edge. Forge welded over the top of this layer is a layer os slightly softer, tougher steel that adds support and strength to the blade. It also acts as a shock absorber protecting the white paper steel from knocks and impacts that could otherwise cause it to chip or crack. The curved blade is forged with an integral tang to give increased strength to the blade and handle assembly. Made from Japanese magnolia wood, the handle is straight and strong. Measuring 395mm in length, the handle is unfinished to give you a firm, non-slip grip in use. This is an excellent tool and a very efficient way to cut back unwanted foliage and grasses.
