Built for heavier duty clearance work and ideal for cutting back brush, brambles and other woody stems and branches, this sickle features a thicker blade than the grass cutting sickles. Hand forged from carbon steel, the curved blade has an exceptionally sharp cutting edge and the additional weight from the thicker blade gives it extra momentum in use making the tool overall very efficient at cutting and clearing. The blade has an integral, long tang forged as part of it giving the sickle, as a whole, great strength. The handle is made from Japanese white oak, a strong, straight grained hardwood that is ideal for handles due to its strength and durability. This oak is unfinished to give a better, more secure grip so it will not slip out of your hands even when wearing gardening gloves. This is an excellent traditional tool that is still very effective when clearing dense areas of brush. Made in Japan. ©
