The spade is the work horse of the garden and needs to be incredibly strong to withstand the loads demanded of it. The head and socket on this spade are forged from a single piece of steel therefore eliminating any welding and subsequent points of weakness. To maximise the strength of the spade the wooden shaft is buried 330mm deep inside the socket to increase the spades resilience and durability. The perfectly balanced handle combined with the angle of the socket ensure for correct working angle minimising effort on heavy duty tasks. This spade has a traditional tapered morticed & tennoned T handle on which you can exert significant leverage without the risk of damage to the 750mm straight grain ash handle. The head of the spade is perfectly sized to carry out an array of tasks from digging between existing plants in shrub beds and herbaceous borders, turning over unprepared ground, planting seeds, plants, vegetables and shrubs.
