This transplanting spade has a long yet narrow head which is slightly dished so that it can dig deep under and around root balls without causing damage. The head and socket on this spade are hand forged from a single piece of Swedish steel therefore eliminating any welding and subsequent points of weakness giving the spade immense strength. To maximise the strength of the spade the wooden shaft is buried 330mm deep inside the socket to increase the spades resilience and durability. This spade has a traditional tapered morticed and tenoned T handle on which you can exert significant leverage without the risk of damage to the 750mm straight grain ash handle. Favoured by gardeners for replanting trees, shrubs and plants this spade is equally at home digging out root crops in the vegetable garden. ©
