Offering a wide selection of profiles, this 12 piece carvers set is ideal for both the beginner and established carver alike. The hardened blades are manufactured from a special alloy steel and can be honed to a razor sharp edge. Designed to be struck with a mallet, these chisels have turned, solid ash handles which, due to the straight grain, are very strong and their shape makes them very comfortable and easy to control. With a blade length of 100mm and an overall length of 210mm these chisels are ideal for both small and large carvings. This set comprises 8mm straight spoon bit, 7mm concave gouge, 8mm round nosed chisel, 8mm straight chisel, 8mm V nosed chisel, 8mm left hand skew, 8mm right hand skew, 14mm straight chisel, 11mm 90 degree V-tool, 11mm gouge, 12mm gouge and a 15mm gouge presented in a solid wooden box. ©

I bought this set just after Christmas. Supplied in a lovely wooden presentation box.Although already sharp I decided to further sharpen the blades using my oil stone. I achieved razor edges that sliced through the lime I was working on. I finished my first carving (an owl) after just one week and am very proud of it.

Very fast delivery from rutlands. When delivered some of the chisels had tiny chips on the edge and there is gaps on some between the ferrule and the neck of the blade, both faults correctable with sharpening and the addition on a leather baffle. Box needed some gluing. Chisels hold edge very well, even when used on hornbeam. Over all excellent value for money.
