Firmer chisels feature much thicker blades than standard bevel edge chisels making them the tool of choice for heavy duty cutting and stock removal applications such as mortising. Designed specifically with the professional carpenter in mind, these new chisels are made from the finest materials making them extremely tough, durable and perfect for on site use. Made in Germany, the blades are forged from the highest grade German chrome vanadium steel which is tempered and then hardened to Rc-61 along the blade's entire length. Chrome vanadium steel is ideal for this type of chisel as it has a higher resistance to metal fatigue over other tool steels. With the addition of a split proof handle, these factors combine to ensure the chisel will perform at the consistently high standard expected of an MHG chisel throughout the life of the tool. Before leaving the factory, these chisels are mirror polished and hand sharpened. Capable of taking and holding a razor sharp edge, these chisels produce fast, clean cuts in both hardwoods and softwoods. The ergonomically designed polypropylene handle features santoprene sides for a non slip grip and added comfort. As these chisels are for use with a hammer or mallet, the split proof handles feature a steel cap. In the flesh, the quality of these chisels speaks for itself and each chisel is perfectly balanced in the hand and is a joy to use. This set comprises of 6mm, 10mm, 12mm, 16mm, 20mm and 26mm chisels presented in a fitted solid beech wood case. Chisels overall length ranges from 256mm to 272mm. Highly recommended by Rutlands. ©
Made entirely in Germany from the highest quality materials, MHG chisels come from the centuries old traditions of fine tool making but are produced using the very latest forging and hardening processes. This gives a chisel that is extremely efficient and incredibly reliable. The blades are premium quality German chrome vanadium; a metal that has a much higher resistance to metal fatigue than other tool steels and is perfect for tools that are designed to be struck with a mallet. Each blade is tempered and hardened to RC-61 along its entire length, giving a blade that will take and hold a razor sharp edge as well at the end of its working life as it did when new. The handles are made from slow growing European hardwoods selected for their straight grain and strength. Supported by a steel band, the handles will not spread or split in use and offer exceptional support to the deep seated tangs. Precision ground and sharpened before they leave the factory, MHG chisels are built for hard work and perform flawlessly.

Name: K D Patel. Rating: 5/5
As a long standing user of MHG chisels, I bought these for my apprentice who insisted on having split proof handled chisels. My experience of such chisels in the past was always of substandard blades only capable of very rough cutting. Not so with these, I am pleased to say. The blades are exactly the same high quality as my wooden handled chisels and take an incredibly sharp edge. The handles do stand up to that extra bit of force when required and when needed I borrow these chisels from my apprentice.
