This is a high quality quick action woodworking vice that would be an excellent addition to any workbench. The main body and front jaw are machined from solid grey iron castings and as on all industrial vices the front jaw is tapered toward the rear jaw for positive work piece holding. Under clamping pressure the the jaws become parallel providing a more consistant pressure over the face of the jaw. The jaws run on two solid precision machined steel bars and run in machined cast housings to give the jaws a smooth sliding movement. By engaging the quick release trigger, you freely slide the jaw toward the work piece, release the trigger and give a final turn on the handle for fast action and powerful work holding. A retractable steel bench dog on top of the front jaw is used in conjunction with a workbench dogs when clamping large flat work pieces. It is mounted to the bench through four large positioning holes. Both front and rear jaws are pre drilled to accept wooden sub jaws. This heavy duty 227mm vice has a maximum opening of 254mm and weighs 14kg. ©

This vice has a really smooth opening and closing mechanism. I would have to go as far as saying it has less play then my Record 52. It is a direct copy of the Record - even down to the tapered front jaw.

I like this vice - a lot. The moving jaw is inwardly tapered so that when you exert high pressure, the two jaws mate together to create a high pressure grip.
