Designed for medium to heavy duty applications, this bench vice is manufactured from high quality cast grey iron which is immensely strong even under excessive pressures. A clamping capacity of 150mm between the jaws makes this vice well sized for many workshop tasks. Machined to engineering tolerances, this vice is incredibly smooth and reliable in use. The movable jaw is mounted on a beam that fully encapsulates the vice spindle protecting it from workshop dust and debris keeping this vice fully functioning even in the dustiest of environments. This threaded spindle runs through a long malleable iron nut which is locked securely into the body of the vice. This long nut ensures maximum thread contact with the vice spindle and keeps the jaws constantly aligned. The 125mm wide jaws are precision machined to be square and feature knurled faces for a firmer grip on the work piece. The throat depth of 70mm allows this vice to handle larger projects than other similar sized vices. This is one heavyweight vice. I wanted a smaller capacity vice for detailed work and ended up with a vice that I can do so much more with. As well as working with wood I also work with metals and this vice is perfect for that too. What I thought was a good deal has turned out to be a total bargain! Well done Rutlands.
