Spiral, or Yankee screwdrivers as they are more widely known, are a favourite of cabinetmakers and craftsmen for their speed and simplicity. As they translate the forward movement of the handle into a rotational movement of the chuck, this type of screwdriver makes light work of the heaviest screwing tasks. Produced in Germany, these are very high quality spiral ratchet screwdrivers and feature a 1/4 inch hex bit chuck which will accept both double and single ended bits. The chuck also features a knurled locking ring for securing small 1/4 inch hex shaft drill bits. Each driver body is precision machined to give a smooth, consistent movement along the entire length of the shaft allowing 2 1/2 revolutions per stroke from the large screwdriver and 2 revolutions from the medium screwdriver. The contoured wooden handle is comfortable to hold and ensures a firm grip and a freely rotating collar behind the chuck offers a stabilising grip for two handed operations such as small diameter drilling. A three position movement selector gives the option of forwards for screwdriving and drilling, backwards for removing screws and a locked position when high torque manual driving is required. When not in use, the spiral ratchet mechanism can be locked in the compressed position for protection and easy storage. The medium driver measures 9 1/2 inches extending to 12 inches and the large driver measures 12 1/2 inches extending to 18 inches. Both sizes are chrome plated for corrosion resistance and come with a set of three double ended bits featuring PH1, PH2, PH3 and 4.5mm, 5.5mm and 7mm slotted heads.
