This set of heavy duty chisels has been compiled to meet the needs of the demanding professional carpenter. Featuring three firmer chisels and three larger, powergrip chisels this set will take all of those large, heavy duty cutting tasks in its stride. The firmer chisels are ideal for heavy stock removal and cutting tasks such as mortising and the powergrip chisels make light work of very large cutting tasks, such as framimg whilst still offering the user a high degree of accuracy. Made entirely in Germany from the highest quality materials, both types of chisel feature forged, chrome vanadium steel blades which are tempered and hardened to Rc-61 along the entire length of the blades. This process combined with the durability and resistance to fatigue of the chrome vanadium steel offers a blade that not only will accept and retain a razor sharp edge throughout its working life but has a longer working life than other chisels. The chisels have ergonomically designed handles turned from premium grade hornbeam which is extremely tough due to its straight, dense grain. At top of the handles are heavy duty steel reinforcing bands which prevent the handles from spreading or splitting when struck with a hammer or mallet and all blades are supported within the handle by a thick steel ferrule. The powergrip chisels feature shock absorbing rubber washers between the blade bolster and steel ferrule to further protect the blade. Despite their size, these chisels are perfectly balanced in use and allow the user to work more efficiently without fatigue. We feel that this exceptional set will be a favourite of discerning carpenters across the country. This set comprises three firmer chisels in sizes 10mm, 16mm and 20 mm, three powergrip chisels in sizes 26mm, 30mm and 40mm with a double sided sharpening stone all presented in a fitted solid beech case. The blades are premium quality German chrome vanadium; a metal that has a much higher resistance to metal fatigue than other tool steels and is perfect for tools that are designed to be struck with a mallet. Each blade is tempered and hardened to RC-61 along its entire length, giving a blade that will take and hold a razor sharp edge as well at the end of its working life as it did when new. The handles are made from slow growing European hardwoods selected for their straight grain and strength. Supported by a steel band, the handles will not spread or split in use and offer exceptional support to the deep seated tangs. Precision ground and sharpened before they leave the factory, MHG chisels are built for hard work and perform flawlessly.

At first sight the handles on the larger chisels seem to big until they are in use. They fit the hand really well a just feel solid. They are well made and really weel presented. Even customers have commented on their quality.

This is such a great idea. Two types of chisel in one set means I only have to take one box of chisels with me on the job. All the chisels have a good solid feel to them in use and they get the job done. Including a double sided sharpening stone too is inspired!
