This traditional style Japanese marking knife features an extra sharp cutting edge capable of marking out and scoring even very, hard dense woods. The blade is made from two different layers of steel forge welded together to produce a robust knife with a very fine edge. Made in Japan, this knife features a cutting edge and back of very hard, high carbon steel. This steel will take and hold an exceptionally sharp edge but, due to its hardness, can be susceptible to damage from knocks and jolts. To protect this hard steel, the softer steel layer is added to absorb accidental shocks with may otherwise chip or crack the harder steel. The blade and handle are forged in a single piece giving an uncomplicated, easy to hold knife. Single bevelled, this knife is for right hand use and features a hollow ground back to speed up the sharpening process. The knife has a slight curve to it on both the handle and the knife edge making it an ideal tool for freehand marking and marking out circles, arc and non uniform shapes. Cutting edge measures 63mm.
