Featuring a single bevelled blade, this Japanese marking knife can be used flush against straight edges and rules, templates and patterns for repeatedly accurate marking out. The cutting edge is 65mm in length making it capable of any size of marking out task. Made from two layers of steel, the knife has a back made from very hard high carbon steel. This forms the cutting edge of the knife and hones to a razor sharpness. As this steel is very hard, it can be susceptible to damage from knocks and bumps, so to protect it, a softer, tougher layer of steel is forge welded over the top. The back is hollow ground to make flattening the back of the knife much faster as the harder steel takes slightly longer to grind. This knife is 210mm in length with the handle and blade forged as one piece. This is an uncomplicated yet highly useful tool worthy of any workshop. Made in Japan. ©
