Used for heavy stock removal and levelling boards before smoothing, the No 6 fore plane has a 457mm sole plate which is long enough not to follow the peaks and troughs of an uneven board. This results in faster, more efficient levelling. The blade is made from high carbon steel which is hardened to Rc-58 along its entire length and can be honed to a razor sharp edge. Fully adjustable, the blade can be set to take heavy cuts or fine shavings as required and also features lateral adjustment. Made from high quality cast iron, the body is ribbed for extra strength and rigidity and is precision machined on both the sole and the wings for flatness and squareness. The cast iron frog is securely attached to the body by two screws and provides total support for the blade, eliminating chatter. Finished with a contoured rosewood handle and front knob, this is a quality plane that will be at home in anyone’s workshop. Weight 3.4kg. ©
