A Jack plane is the most commonly used plane in the workshop. Long enough for jointing tasks, the Jack plane is also light enough to be used for prolonged periods when smoothing. Constructed from high grade cast iron the body is precision machined and ground to ensure the sole is flat and the wings are square to the sole. The cast iron frog is machined on its base to ensure a solid fit to the plane body giving the blade full support right down the cutting edge and ensuring clean, chatter-free cuts. Hardened to Rc-58 along its entire length, the 51mm wide high carbon steel blade is fully adjustable both laterally and for depth of cut. The rosewood handle is specially shaped and lacquer finished for comfort and durability and the front knob is also made from rosewood. Measuring 356mm in length, this plane weighs 2.27kg. ©
