The No 4 smooth plane is the perfect size for general smoothing, finish work, trimming and other odd jobs at the bench. The sole is 241mm long and the blade is 51mm wide. Weight is 1.98kg. It incorporates a unique frog that extends all the way to the sole of the plane to eliminate blade chatter and to allow the user to quickly adjust the mouth as required. The body and frog are ductile cast iron and are fully stress relieved. The wings and sole are accurately machined and surface ground. The extra-large side wings make for very stable shooting. The blade is 3mm thick and made of A2 tool steel. Both the hardwood front knob and tote are generous in size for a comfor table grip with good control. The combined feed and lateral adjust lever make blade setting easy and accurate. ©
