Spokeshaves are an excellent way of shaping wood but a standard size spokeshave is often not practical for larger pieces and usually results in scuffed knuckles. This large spokeshave tackles larger shaping tasks such as planters and barrels with ease and the extra long handles ensure hands are kept away from the work. The ductile cast iron body holds the A2 steel blade at an angle of 45 degrees and integrated thumbwheels offer fingertip control of the depth of cut and skew. As with the other Veritas spokeshaves, this large spokeshave has a fixed mouth but comes supplied with shims to close the mouth from 0.040" to 0.020" for fine trimming work. The long african rosewood handles are contoured for a comfortable grip. Overall length 18". ©
