Made from the very finest materials, this traditional style Laguiole knife is as much a highly practical work knife as it is a collectors item. The Swedish 12C27 stainless steel blade is hand forged and sharpened to a razor sharp edge. The steel is both hard and tough making it strong and less prone to blunting and will not rust or corrode which means this knife can be used for any cutting task with total confidence. The folding blade has a spring lock mechanism, the spring and catch are formed from a single piece of steel rather than welded together giving the mechanism greater strength than those found on lower cost versions. The catch is shaped like a bee, the imperial emblem of Napoleon, awarded to the Auvergne region in which these knives are made. The blade, spring, catch and bolsters feature a smooth matt finish. The cheeks of the knife are made from native French juniper burl which makes for an attractive, interesting handle. The handle features solid steel bolsters and the whole assembly is held together with silver nickel pins. The traditional shepherd's cross is inlaid into the handle and harks back to the origins of the Laguiole knife as a valuable working tool.
