This exquisite pocket knife is small but perfectly formed. The contrast of the matt stainless steel and the dark ebony cheeks makes this handcrafted knife a tool that you will want to pass down to future generations. What makes this such an excellent knife to own is that it offers great performance as well as good looks. The razor sharp blade is hand sharpened for the best possible edge. Made from Swedish 12C27 stainless steel, widely acknowledged as one of the best stainless steels for knives and cutting tools, the blade is strong, will not blunt easily and is resistant to rust and corrosion. A spring locking mechanism keeps the blade locked in position when open and for added strength, the spring and catch are forged from a single piece of steel and then hand finished and decorated. Like the other Laguiole knives, the catch on this knife is in the shape of a bee; the imperial emblem of Napoleon. The handle features stainless steel bolsters and first grade ebony cheeks. This quality of ebony ensures that the wood will be a dark, rich colour with little or no variation in it. A hardened blade stop protects the blade edge when the knife is folded and the whole handle assembly is held together with silver nickel pins. Inlaid in the handle is the characteristic shepherd's cross, used for prayer purposes by shepherds who were unable to attend church when moving livestock. This is a well sized, highly useful handcrafted knife that is true heirloom quality and comes supplied with a handmade leather pouch and numbered certificate of authenticity guarantee. The company making these knives has been producing some of France’s finest cutlery since the early 1920s. Based in Thiers, which is the French equivalent of Sheffield in England or Solingen in Germany, the manufacturer is situated at the very heart France’s cutlery manufacturing centre. Using only the very finest materials to create their knives, each knife blade is forged from premium Swedish stainless steel and feature native and exotic hardwoods and well as buffalo horn for their handles. Rather than a brand name, the Laguiole is a style of knife that originated in the French village that bears the same name. Easily recognisable by its characteristic slender blade and slim handle, the Laguiole knife is elegant in its form but is reliable and practical in its use. All knives are supplied with a numbered certificate of authenticity. Made in France.
