A true gentleman's knife, this pocket knife has a wider, shorter blade and handle than the other Laguiole knives. This hardy knife can perform heavier cutting tasks and is an excellent everyday general purpose pocket knife. Made using the very finest materials, this gentleman's knife will last for generations. The blade is hand forged from Swedish 12C27 stainless steel which is hard enough to take and hold a razor sharp edge. The steel is also tough meaning the sharp cutting edge will not blunt easily. The blade folds smoothly in and out of the handle and a spring locking mechanism keeps the blade locked in position when in use. The spring and catch are forged from a single piece of steel and not welded together as with lower quality knives. This mechanism is hand filed and decorated and the catch is in the traditional shape of a bee. The bee is important as it was the imperial emblem of Napoleon and awarded to the Auvergne region in which these knives are made. A hardened steel blade stop protects the blade edge when folded and the solid steel bolsters give the handle an integral strength and durability. The blade, spring, catch and bolsters all have a fine, matt finish. The cheeks of the handle are made from first quality walnut and the whole handle assembly is held together with silver nickel pins. The handle is inlaid with the traditional shepherd's cross motif. This knife is supplied with a handcrafted premium quality leather pouch with numbered certificate of authenticity and guarantee. The company making these knives has been producing some of France’s finest cutlery since the early 1920s. Based in Thiers, which is the French equivalent of Sheffield in England or Solingen in Germany, the manufacturer is situated at the very heart France’s cutlery manufacturing centre. Using only the very finest materials to create their knives, each knife blade is forged from premium Swedish stainless steel and feature native and exotic hardwoods and well as buffalo horn for their handles. Rather than a brand name, the Laguiole is a style of knife that originated in the French village that bears the same name. Easily recognisable by its characteristic slender blade and slim handle, the Laguiole knife is elegant in its form but is reliable and practical in its use. All knives are supplied with a numbered certificate of authenticity. Made in France.
