With its longer, broader blade and buffalo horn handle, this Laguiole sport knife has a real outdoor feel to it. It wants to be used in the field whether camping, trekking or simply working in the garden, this knife will take any task in its stride. The hand forged blade is 3.5mm thick giving it that extra strength needed for heavier work. Made from 12C27 Swedish stainless steel, the blade will take a very fine, sharp edge and will not blunt easily nor will it rust. A spring locking mechanism and catch holds the blade securely in position when extended ensuring the blade does not move in use. The spring and catch are forged as a single piece and then hand decorated by skilled artisans. Lower quality versions of these knives have the catch and spring welded together which creates and inherent weakness in the knife, reducing the working life of it. As is traditional with the Laguiole knife, the catch is shaped like a bee and dates back to Napoleonic times. The handle features solid steel bolsters and a hardened steel blade stop to protect the knife edge when not in use. All of the metalwork on this knife, the blade, spring, catch and bolsters all have a smooth, matt finish. The cheeks of the handle are formed from buffalo horn bark. This is the outer part of the buffalo horn and the handle will vary slightly with the natural shape of the horn to produce a truly unique knife. The whole handle assembly is fixed with silver nickel pins and the handle features a shepherd's cross motif. This is an exceptional knife and comes supplied with a hand crafted leather pouch and sharpening steel. A numbered certificate of authenticity and guarantee is also included. Made in France. ©
