Steeped in the rich history of the Norwegian explorers, this knife was first brought to Norway by Fridtjof Nansen after his expedition across Greenland. Given to him by Eskimos, this short bladed knife was designed for general cutting use and will cut, carve, slice and whittle. This version which bears Nansen's name is an invaluable tool for the home, garden or out and about on camping or hunting trips and will prove its worth in no time. The blade and tang are hand forged from a single piece of Swedish 12C27 Sandvik stainless steel. Developed over a period of 45 years for the manufacture of cutting tools, this stainless steel has exceptional edge holding properties as well as being strong, hard and rust and corrosion resistant. The handle is hand turned from Norwegian curly grained birch, a beautiful, highly figured wood and due to its nature ensures that no two handles have the same grain pattern making each knife unique. Impregnated with linseed oil and then polished, the handle is very durable, comfortable to hold and will need minimal maintenance. A German silver ferrule supports the knife where handle and blade meet giving this exceptional knife an extra touch of luxury. The knife sits securely in the included embossed leather sheath. Made from premium quality cowhide, the sheath will attach to a belt for added convenience and features a safety lining to protect both the user and the knife when not in use. Blade length of 95mm.
