Designed and crafted for outdoor leisure use, this highly practical hunting knife has a strong, sturdy, straight blade ideal for finishing and preparing game as well as cutting and chopping branches and vegetation. The blade is hand forged and comprises of three layers of steel; a blue paper steel core with a softer low carbon steel layer either side. Ideal for cutting tools and knives, blue paper steel is hard enough to hold a razor like edge but does not suffer from brittleness like the harder white paper steel. This means the resultant cutting edge will be less prone to damage and more capable of performing heavy tasks. The softer iron layers flanking the core give the harder steel support and protect it from knocks and shocks that could otherwise damage it. Ground and sharpened by hand for a fine, sharp and accurate cutting edge, the top of the blade is decorated with blackened hammer marks which gives you a true feeling for this knife's origins and heritage. The solid oak handle is shaped to give it a very natural appearance and then stained and heat treated for greater durability. A blackened, hammer finished steel ferrule gives the knife balance while also supporting the blade in the handle. A leather thong is looped in the end of the handle and this knife is supplied with a hand crafted leather pouch with belt loop. We recommend that the blade is cleaned, dried and treated with a coating of light tool oil after every use. Blade length 135mm. Made in Japan. ©
