This Japanese hunting knife has a sturdy 5mm thick, 150mm long blade and will make light work of the heaviest cutting tasks. Whether you use it when trekking, hunting, camping or even just in and around the garden, this knife is tough enough to rise to any challenge you set it. Made in Japan by a master blacksmith, the blade is hand forged, ground and finished bearing the signature of its maker. Constructed from three layers of metal, the blade has a core and therefore cutting edge of blue paper steel. This type of steel is hard without being brittle meaning the cutting edge will not dull easily and will stand up to hard work without damage. Either side of this blue paper steel core is a layer of softer steel which gives extra strength to the blade as well as acting as a shock absorber to protect the blade from the knocks and shocks associated with heavy duty use. These layers combine to create a blade that is exceptionally tough, durable and razor sharp. A steel ferrule supports the blade in the handle and gives the blade a balanced feel in use. A finger guard is incorporated into this ferrule to prevent your hand from slipping in use. The handle is ergonomically shaped from Japanese white oak and this slow growing, straight grained hardwood is exceptionally strong. Two decorative pins adorn the handle and hold the whole assembly firm. This knife is supplied with a sheath hand crafted from premium quality leather and may be belt mounted if required.
