Crafted by a master, this hunting knife is made using the very finest materials. The hand worked 11 layered blade has a core of white paper steel with 5 layers of softer iron forge welded on either side. White paper steel is pure carbon steel made from carbon and high purity iron ore with no extra additives. This produces a steel which will take a very high degree of hardening and will give an unbelievably sharp edge. The softer iron on the outside of this core protects the very hard steel from knocks and impacts by acting like a shock absorber and preventing the core from cracking. The 135mm blade is hand finished and bears the signature of its maker. A long tang, forged as an integral part of the blade to give the knife strength, runs deep into the handle making the knife feel very sturdy in use. The handle is created from solid oak with a traditional blackened finish. Wrapped around this is a ray skin cover. Ray skin is an exceptionally hardwearing type of leather known for its slightly abrasive surface. This surface offers a very secure grip in use even with wet hands or in damp weather. A finger guard style ferrule sits between the handle and the blade. The knife is supplied with a belt mountable magnolia wood and leather sheath that keeps the blade protected when not in use. This is an excellent hunting knife and one that will soon prove its worth in the field or around the home. Made in Japan. ©
Saji is a name synonymous with the very best knives Japan has to offer. A highly regarded craftsman, Takeshi Saji has been honoured by his native Japan many times and has even been declared a national treasure for the unparalleled quality of his work. Takefu itself has a worldwide reputation for the quality of its blades. Its knife manufacturing history dates back over 700 years and is in an area famed for its exceptionally pure quality iron ore. Each knife Saji produces is a work of art that is made to be used. The sheer quality of his knives will ensure they last and continue to work hard for their owner for years to come.
