Not only is this a stunningly good looking knife, it performs effortlessly in any cutting task and has the benefit of a fully stainless steel blade. Made by a Japanese master blacksmith, this blade is hand finished to give the finest, sharpest possible cutting edge. The multi layered blade consists of a core of VG-10 stainless steel, a hard, durable stainless steel that will take a razor like edge and will not blunt easily. Around this core are 32 layers, 16 either side, of a tougher, slightly softer stainless steel which protect and support the core and cutting edge. The forging and grinding processes involved in the manufacture of these blades exposes the different layers of steel giving the blades the highly attractive suminagashi, or Damascus, pattern. The blade is forged with the tang in a single piece and this tang runs the entire length of the knife handle. This gives the knife a feeling of solidity and strength while keeping it perfectly balanced in use. A silver nickel bolster has an integrated finger guard and the handle assembly is held together with polished silver nickel pins. The handle scales are made from Japanese quince which has a wild, beautiful grain pattern. The ergonomic design of the handle makes it very positive and comfortable to hold. This is a beautiful yet functional knife and one which will delight the enthusiast and collector as much as it will the more practical knife owner.
