This planer knife jig is incredibly easy to use and will soon make poorly set planer blades a thing of the past. Poor blade setting can seriously effect the results from your planer causing problems such as end snipe and uneven stock removal. This jig ensures the blades are set evenly across the cutter block and are also at the correct height. The cast body of the jig straddles the blade and attaches to the cutter block by way of rare earth magnets embedded in solid brass bars. The brass bars pivot to accommodate different diameters of cutter block and the magnets hold the jig firm without damaging the cutter block. A third brass bar, again with rare earth magnets embedded, is suspended in the middle of the jig and this holds the blade level so it can be locked in position in the cutter block. This is an easy way to set all planer blades at the same height within the same cutter block as the fixed nature of the jig gives perfectly repeatable results. ©

Definitely the easiest method of setting planer blades I used. All you need to do is set it up for the first blade and it sets the others at the same height above the block. Saves me plenty of time as my planer has a three blade block.

I agree with all the previous review. Fantastic piece of kit and it makes setting the blades easy. It took a few attempts to get the hang of it and then it was quiet easy. Highly recommended.

My first impressions of this jig are very good. I never got on with the pair of magnetic jigs (DKPNJIG) but, this one seems far more reliable and its size makes it less likely to 'spring back' while fixed to the cutter block.
Their instructions (which ARE legible!) advise you to use TWO of these jigs on planers up to 20"/500mm wide (three, if more than that). My machine's only 250mm/10" and one jig seems to work fine. Anything bigger than 300mm/12" though and I reckon you would need two of them. Each jig is about 4"/102mm in length.
Another plus point is that the they allow plenty of room to get your spanner in to tighten the bolts.

My planer thicknesser came with a notched piece of metal as a blade setting jig and I never got the hang of it. I used to dread having to remove the blades because it was always a nightmare getting the blades set up correctly. This jig makes it so simple, I wish I'd bought one sooner.
