Of all of the fixed template dovetail jig we have used, this has to be the best. The base of the jig is made from heavy gauge steel which gives it a good, sturdy feel and allows it to stand solidly on the work bench. Capable of accepting boards up to 12" wide and 1 3/16" thick, this jig has a twin cam clamping mechanism which holds the board firm during routing. Unlike other dovetail jigs, this jig will produce through, half-blind, rebated half blind dovetails and finger joints with ease. Requiring the minimum amount of setting up, there is no need for complicated calculations to achieve the perfect dovetail joint. The included templates are precision CNC machined from thick aluminium sheet and will not bend or flex during use. One template will produce half blind dovetails and the other will create through dovetails and finger joints. Ergonomically designed, this jig has a router rest built in so the router can be sat on top of the jig during cutting without having to be held a few millimeters above it by the operator, giving a more comfortable routing experience. Dust extraction fittings come as standard with this jig and allow dust and chip removal at source giving a much better finish to your work. This is an excellent dovetail jig worthy of any professional workshop. This dovetail jig comes complete with two templates, dust extraction fittings, a 1/2" shank straight cutter, a 1/2" shank dovetail cutter, two guide bushes and full instructions. ©

Took a few test pieces to set up but once I got it set it’s been great. This is nearly the same as the porter cable and dewaltDE6212 other than the depth gauge which is easily overcome by the use of a template. It also has the advantage of the support plate and dust extractor. The manual is basic but used the dewalt manual downloaded off their support site and the porter cable to good effect. There is also a good training video on the dovetail jigs using the porter cable. www.woodworkingonline.com/2007/04/30/podcast-20-machine-cut-dovetails/ ,well worth a look at. For the money it’s a great jig and reading the PC instruction manual gives a good insight to its capabilities.
