The Rutlands® PAPR (Powered Air Purifying Respirator) offers woodworkers high levels of protection against multiple hazards. It combines TH3 respiratory protection with eye, face and head protection. A powerful, lightweight, battery powered fan draws air through two pre-filters coupled with a high capacity HEPA filter and then blows clean air down over the user's face. The fan sends up to 200 litres of clean filtered air per minute and has a positive pressure system allowing the user to breathe as normal without the face shield misting. On a single battery charge it will deliver clean filtered air for up to 6 hours .

The digital control pad allows you to pre-select one of the two air flow rates and features a battery level indicator. The air flow alarm activates audibly and by vibration when the diagnostic system detects changes in the battery or filter conditions, informing the operator of a reduction in air flow. Extremely comfortable to wear the fabric waist belt is padded for optimal fit and weight distribution. The helmet is balanced, weighs less than 0.5kg and will accommodate users with spectacles and facial hair without any loss in protection, while providing a clear wide field of vision. The polycarbonate visor has an anti-scratch coating and is hinged to raise or lower. The breathing tube has a flexible helix that adjusts to the appropriate length for the individual user and features two swivel joint connectors.

The PAPR is supplied with helmet and visor, flexible breathing tube, blower unit with filtration system, HEPA filter, two pre-filters, belt assembly, 3Ah Li-Ion battery and charger, air flow test kit and a carry bag. Conforms to respiratory protection TH3: EN 12941:1998/A1:2003 , EN12941:1998/A2:2008 and eye protection: EN166:2002 and PPE regulation 425/2016. ©

Works very well

I bought this respirator because with the one I already own, I have to keep taking it off to inspect my work then I have to find somewhere convenient to put it. With this respirator all I need to do is lift the visor and for that reason alone I think it is a really good piece of kit. It matches all the features of my existing respirator and therefore I am extremely pleased.

Airshield

Only had this for a week but it has already made a big difference. I am asthmatic and was struggling with the workshop environment when sanding in particular, I have always masked up and tried numerous different types of mask. This airshield has enabled me to stay in the workshop for much longer, it in effect creates an environment within the airshield that has no dust at all. I am looking forward to the warmer months to see if the airflow within the mask helps with the heat in the workshop.

Well worth it!

Living in a spruce log house when you are allergic to spruce dust was always going to have its moments. But last January after a particularly dusty woodworking session, I got a cough which lasted, and lasted, and lasted. Now have asthma brought on by said spruce dust. Well, the puffers are great, but I was not keen on getting any worse, so bit the bullet on this respirator. Another item I should’ve bought years ago! Easily set up, I find it quite quiet in operation, the only downside is that the cold air does overcool your head a tad when the workshop drops below about 7°. But the benefits are terrific. No nose full of dust and no couple of hours of a persistent small cough (and yes, I was use a dust mask previously!) Well pleased with it - takes a bit of getting used to, but after the first half hour, forgotten about. I am having a bit of an issue with dust on the visor - static related I think. Going to try some antistatic tv screen spray. A great bit of kit!

First class piece of kit

Used for just over a month and highly delighted. Helmet is very light, noise is low as the battery pack is around your waist. I'm getting over 6 hours of run time, even when working at the faster air flow rate. At the end of the day you can really tell the difference as your throat is not dry and your nostrils are clear.

Worth every penny!

Very happy with this item. Easy to set up & very comfortable. Used it for around 14 hours over 3 days & still haven't needed to charge it. Nice and fog free during use & comes with a handy storage bag.
