No matter how carefully you use them or look after them, edge tools such as chisels, plane blades, woodturning tools and carving tools will always need sharpening at some time or another. There are many options for sharpening tools ranging from hand sharpening with stones or abrasive sheets to very expensive fully mechanised sharpening systems. This grinder will sharpen even very hard tool steels quickly and efficiently without breaking the bank.
Powered by a 250W induction motor, this grinder is whisper quiet in use. Featuring two 150mm wheels, one side has a 25mm wide, coarse grit grey wheel for reshaping and regrinding work. On the other side a 40mm wide white wheel puts a fine sharp edge on to the blade.
A relatively quiet and solid bench grinder. Good value for money considering the wide white wheel. To sharpen wood lathe tools you need a tiltable rest, so I made one from wood which I was already prepared to do. Great results. Also a missing bolt for one of the guards, but I found a replacement in my workshop. Hence the 4 stars, but really good value for money. Very pleased with purchase.

Very pleased with this grinder. My last one rattled and was very loud. This machine is quiet and great to use. I recommend it, good value, well made and value for money.
Been meaning to buy a bench grinder for ages. I cannot believe how quite this grinder is. The 40mm stone sharpened my old plane blade a treat, finished with a diamond stone and now cuts beautifully. Id have paid full price for this machine and been happy, at this discount price it feel like christmas has come early.

The ultra quiet bench grinder rattles a little getting up to speed but is more-or-less ultra quiet thereafter. This seems a nicely made machine which should last. It is a pity that Rutland's did not photograph it complete with tool rest, spark deflector, and safety shielf as the instructions are not clear and a 'clear' picture is better than a thousand words (and blurred pictures). Maybe they just gave up on the instructions. Well worth the money and more, though.
