• Used for fine accurate work such as trimming tenons and rebating
• High grade cast iron body precision machined for perfectly flat sole and sides

Measuring only 100mm in length, this bull nose rabbet plane is designed for fine work where extreme accuracy is required. Two steel spacers between the nose and the body of the plane allow for four different mouth openings to suit both fine and coarse work and the depth of cut can be controlled accurately using the knurled adjuster screw. The body of the plane is produced from high grade cast iron and both the base and sides are precision machined and ground to be perfectly flat.

Hardened to Rc-58 the high carbon steel blade is 28mm wide and capable of taking a razor sharp edge. The nose may be removed from the plane to convert it to a chisel plane. Weight 566g.

Anant have been manufacturing woodworking planes and accessories for over 50 years. These planes feature precision machined cast iron bodies, high carbon steel blades and solid Indian rosewood, cast iron or ABS plastic handles. The high standard of these tools makes them perfect for everyone from the discerning home woodworker to the professional carpenter. In a test of seven similar planes, the American Woodworker Magazine awarded the Anant No 5 Jack plane "Best Buy". These are quality planes at value for money prices.

it's pretty rough & ready straight out of the box. I Spent some time flattening the sole and fine sanding with wet and dry on the bare metal then I polished all bare metal to a nice shine on a polishing machine then a sharpen of the blade. well worth the money and time spent Thank you rutland

As others have said, it's pretty rough & ready straight out of the box. Spend some time flattening the base & sharpening the blade and you'll end up with a serviceable tool for occasional use at a budget price. If you expect to use regularly, spend more for higher quality.

I had not expected much for the money, but since the plane won't be used much I took a chance based on previous reviews - and I am pleased I did. Very disappointing straight from the box. Materials and engineering are rough and ready. However, an hour's work on the sole and blade produced a tool that cuts well and serves its purpose.

A wonderful addition to any joiners bench I purchased this with not such great expectations but all in all a fine tool. Although not finished to the standards of high end planes ie couple of sharpish edges that could have been grounded for ease of use but finish if not better the same results as leading brands. Thanks rutlands!!

A useful little plane for rough work. I didn't like the blue expoxy paint so decided to remove it. The casting beneath is very rough and pitted, probably why the heavy paint is used, to hide the rough body. That said, for the money it performs admirably

Good saving on this plane. Worth its money, holds a very keen edge. Wouldnot have paid more for this plane as Anant still lack the refinement of better known names, however does its job well. So Iam generally pleased with it.

I got this bull nose plane as a christmas present and it is now the most used plane in my workshop. I use it for rebating and fitting tenons. It's solid cast iron which gives it a good weight and it takes a nice fine shaving. A very useful plane indeed.

I purchased this plane when it was on offer and its a remarkable plane for the price. A quick hone of the blade and it was cutting beautifully. A very handy plane to own and mine lives on my workbench where it is always at hand. A bargain. Thank you Rutlands.
