Cyclone Dust Collector

Rutlands    Part No. DK2103

• Capture 90% of dust and debris before it reaches your vacuum
• Eliminate clogged filters and suction loss
• Save money on dust collection bags
• Used worldwide in over 50,000 workshops

The principal of this cyclone system is that dust and shavings that would normally be sucked directly into your vacuum are now collected in the cyclone's 20 litre drum. This means that you can collect dust for longer periods of time, without loosing suction power caused by prematurely filling and clogging the filter on your vacuum. It also means that you save money on paper collection bags for your vacuum.

The 20 litre drum is transparent so you can see when it is ready for emptying into a bin liner. To use you simply position the cyclone collector with the supplied hoses and connectors between your power tool and your workshop vacuum. Then switch your vacuum on and off as you would normally do. This set comes with a 20 litre collection bucket, collection lid with elbow, stepped connection adaptor, 3 x 63mm adaptors, 2 x 63mm hoses, 2 x clamps and castors. A simple, ingenious device that saves time, money and effort.

* Please note - not directly compatible with 'twist and lock' connection of the DK6695 Stainless Steel Wet & Dry Vacuum. Use adaptors DKL7 or DK1080 (sold separately) to connect the vacuum hose to the Cyclone Dust Collector - vacuum is not included and shown for illustration purposes only.

* Warning: When using the dust collector unit please ensure that all hoses, pipes and nozzle attachments remain completely free of blockages whilst in operation

I could NOT recommend this equipment. In spite of advertised claims, this is not a cyclone. It's merely a plastic canister fitted in vacuum line. Consequently it can't help but collect some dust. However as there is no separate cylindrical cyclone and a lower receptacle for collected dust, then all the material rotates round the inside of the drum. The casing is extremely light and is an absolute pain to keep upright. When it does fall the lid flies off and the dust falls out. The tubing supplied was fractionally smaller than my existing hose so I struggled with adapters. The fittings supplied have insufficiently long sleeves to enable the jubilee clips to grip on to.Overall this is no more than an expensive lidded plastic bucket on wheels. Its not a cyclone.

Great attachment to my Mac Allister vac, keeps all the sawdust from my chop saw in the tub, not the vac. Will be getting another when the price goes back down

Works very well but the little wheels must be removed and replaced with two 2x4" and it will sit sturdy where you place it.

Very pleased with this piece of kit. I solved the problems of it falling over by making an open topped mdf box on castors which holds both the collector and the vac. With a brick in the collector everything is stable and I can move both collector and vac easily around the workshop with one hand. I also invested in Rutlands' universal hose connector kit and now have a robust, convenient , flexible system.

Works well, surprisingly well, we are using it in a busy workshop, saves the vacuum filters getting blocked all the time and having to keep buying new ones, the hoses howver do collapse as others have said, solution we fing is to use them as they are folded to join the vacuum to the collector, I cannot see the one we have lasting to long though!

Bought mine about 2 months ago. it all fitted together well. No problems with attaching hoses. Does exactly what it says it will. I would recommend this.

Falls over. My little Titan's suction is too strong for it, that the hose collapses. I even tried putting 2 red bricks at the bottom. Works best when I raise my vacuum higher off the ground which is no big deal when setting up for a bigger job. Good idea though and it does work. Also the hoses work with other kit I have.

Bought one of these several months ago. Needed to build a system that would fit under my workbench, which is not possible with the Dust Deputy. Much to my surprise it works brilliantly. I have it connected to a Ryobi wet and dry, which ends up with very little dust in it. The only issue is that it is so light that the Ryobi regularly collapses the air pipe and pulls the collector over. The solution being a concrete block in the bottom or when I get around to it a hinged wooden yoke. Thoroughly recommended. Additionally it will connect directly to a 63mm pipe distribution system.

I reckon this is about the best money I've ever spent on a tool. It makes the difference between just using a vacuum cleaner occasionally, and using it all the time. Really excellent for the small workshop, highly recommended.

Ideal for my small work area, but wished that the hoses were a bit longer. When I first used it the thing nearly took off with the force of the suction. But now it has been attached to a stacking system by easy release cable ties [so I can empty it] real value for money. Delivery was realy swift

Works very well - much better than my dustbin vac! Only criticism is that like a previous reviewer I found that because it's very light weight, it has a tendency to topple over. Otherwise, full marks to Rutlands for another good product.

Just the job for my garage workshop. Vastly reduces the need to empty collecting bags AND maintains suction. Knocked off one star because adapters for my 1-1/2" o.d. / 1-1/4 i.d. Henry vacuum hose are impossible to find. (Anyone know of a 2-1/2" to 1-1/2" reducer?) Never mind - bodge one up with gaffer tape! Oh yes, and put a brick inside to improve stability. Still loads of space for the dust and chippings.

Disappointed as the hoses supplied contract with any vacuum applied causing the plastic bucket to fall over. The system doesn't work if really advise that the hoses need modifying and until then advise all prospective buyers to avoid unless you find bett hoses. Until then it's a £40 unstable bucket on wheels

Concept is a good one and at a reasonable price, beware that the hoses are collapsible and when the outward hose is constricted by coupling it to tool the hoses both constrict pulling the bucket over would be better if supplied with different hoses

Bought for my husband ,same comments as others .Bucket unstable hoses not long enough , and he had to make his own 2 1/2" to 1 1/4" reducer .Also the ribbed hoses would revert to their original length when a reducer put on .

This is part 2 after a review previously. I have now been using the Cyclone Dust Collector and it's brilliant. It's easy to put together but don't tighten the screws for the wheels too tight (see previous review), the pipe fittings are nice and snug and the actual lid of the bucket fits great. People have said in reviews before that it topples over because of the pipes, I haven't had that problem all I did was make sure the pipes that go into the bucket and your vac are not twisted, that the connections are all lined up straight to the bucket and vac and it won't topple over. I'm looking at buying another one sooner rather than later and maybe a new vac to go with it, well done Rutlands.

What can I say but excellent service from Rutlands. I had been waiting ages for these to come back in stock, and soon as they did I bought one. When it arrived (Next Day) I took it all out the box to check it over, only problem I had was that whoever put the wheels on had screwed the wheels too tight, causing a crack to appear at the bottom of the bucket. I rang Rutlands and spoke to customer services, who apologised and sent me out a new Dust Collector in which the wheels weren't put on, I have to now return the cracked Dust Collector for which I got a free returns label sent to me to use, can't say much about the Dust Collector I'm just going off previous reviews, but for service and delivery I would defiantly give it the 5 star rating.

I have one and will be ordering another two. I use the supplied hose from DV to Cyclone and Festool (27mm & 36mm) hoses out to the tools. This works great. Use Both Festool Minin and Nilfislk Alto - no difference in suction, big difference in price! Yes the Bucket does tend to flop about, so will try the house brick. I also have dust deputy and this is as good. get one, you will not be dissapointed.

Had real issues with the hose as it's internal diameter is 2.75 inch. This make the whole attachment messy and requires further adaptors or replacement hose. On the bright side thanks Rutlands for the quick delivery

I use a Festool dust extractor which is excellent but costs a small fortune in dust bags. Using the Cyclone Dust Collector is saving me a fortune. I have emptied the collector 6 times and there is minimal dust in the Festool. I would normally have used three dust bags. It wont take long to pay for itself.

as already said, good idea works ok, easy to use. couple of things to note, i ended up having to spend another £20 on adapters as none of my 3 extractors would fit to the supplied connectors. Without a house brick inside it is a bit unstable and tends to topple over as the hoses unbalance it.

I can strongly recommend this system. It saves money buying expensive paper collection bags and you can see when it needs emptying rather than realising your bag is full due to the loss in suction. Only down side is that the supplied hoses are too short and I ended up spending an extra £20 on a new 3 metre hose. Apart from that its great

Such a simple concept and works great. I have a Festool CT Mini that has a bag size that fills up in less than 10 minutes when routing. The bucket is lasting at least an hour and I don't get any suction drop. Brilliant

It really works well. I hooked it up to my Henry and my Trend router table and fine dust accumulated in the bucket rather than the Henry. Very quick and simple to empty.
