This dovetailing system is both simple to use and very versatile, in fact, we think this will revolutionise the whole dovetail jointing process. Suitable for anyone from the home woodworker to the professional, these jigs are particularly suited to larger projects and repetitive dovetail cutting such as on chests of drawers. Available as a single 15" or two bolt together 15" jigs to form a 30" one, these jigs will produce through dovetails and can also be used to create variable spaced dovetails, angled and compound angle dovetails for shaped furniture such as garden planters and curved dovetails. Made from 1/2" thick, black anodised aluminium, these double sided jigs feature the pin template for use with a dovetail cutter on one side and the dovetail template for use with a straight cutter on the other; everything needed to create dovetails in a single, handy template. The easy to use design means that the numerous test cuts and calculations common with other types of dovetail jig are unnecessary. To use, these jigs require mounting on a wooden fence, not included, and then the wood to be routed is positioned underneath the template ready for cutting. These jigs accept stock between 8mm and 20mm thick with no limit to the length or width of the wood. For large projects such as tall bookcases, the templates can be moved along the wood as many times as required. Included with the 15" jig are two 1/4" shank cutters; one 7 degree dovetail and one straight cutter both of which are bearing guided eliminating the need for guide bushes. The 30" jig includes two 15" long templates, fixing hardware and two 1/4" shank cutters: one bearing guided 7 degree dovetail cutter and one bearing guided straight cutter. Pin spacing on both templates are 1 1/8" centre to centre. For speed and simplicity, these are the best dovetail jigs we have ever used and prove that you do not need expensive, complicated jigs to produce practical, attractive dovetail joints. ©

I got this jig as I wanted to cut dovetails with my router but didn't fancy buying one of those complicated variable jigs. This is so easy to set up and use and there are no restrictions on the length of timber you can use. So far I've made a few small pieces of furniture and a pair of matching full length bookcases with it. An absolute bargain.

Have just made up the fence required to make the tool operational. It was easy to fit and align. Cut first set of Dovetails in some 12mm Deal. Fantastic! I really am so impressed with the accuracy and ease of use. Bargain! Also, am really impressed with the on-line service provided by Rutlands. Brilliant.

I was rather skeptical about this jig having purchaced a fairly complicated one that didnt work. I have made my joints by hand for many years and now want an easier life. I am absolutly delighted with its simplicity and ease of setting up. Would recommend it to anyone. Usual disclaimers apply.

Not impressed. When using the parallel part of the jig, there was insufficient clearance for the router collar. The effective range is 11 – 20mm and varying the size of the dovetails and pins requires accurate measurement and clamping. To say that this jig “will revolutionise the whole dovetail jointing process” is a gross overstatement. If I had not found it necessary to ease the parallel slots in order to evaluate the jig, then I would have returned it for a refund
