Offering both the professional and amateur alike total versatility in their sharpening, this water cooled sharpening system is at home in any workshop. Powered by a quiet running high torque induction motor, this machine will sharpen any tool from the smallest gouge to the largest axe head. The all steel housing has a durable powder coat finish and features rubber feet to prevent vibration for a comfortable grinding experience. Our specially developed monocrystalline alumina wheel cuts extremely quickly reducing the time spent sharpening and will sharpen even the hardest of tool steels with ease. Measuring a generous 220mm x 40mm the grinding wheel is well sized for sharpening large blades as well as finer chisels and gouges. The deep water trough keeps the surface of the wheel wet reducing heat build up and ensuring the tool does not lose its temper, prolonging the life of your edge tools. This trough is removable for easy filling and cleaning. Unlike other, similar grinders on the market this one features a variable torque control. Easily adjusted using the front dial, the torque level on the main drive spindle can be altered so that when you are working on large tools you can increase the torque to prevent the stone from slowing down under load. On the other side of the sharpening system is a leather faced wheel for honing, polishing and perfecting a razor sharp edge. The tool support arm is fully adjustable allowing edges to be ground at their correct angles regardless of size or bevel. Using the optional side wheel grinding jig allows the flat side of the wheel to be used for sharpening. Ideal for those tools that require a guaranteed flat bevel. This system comes complete with a support arm, bevel checking gauge, grinding angle set up jig, stone grader, straight edge jig and honing paste. A host of precision attachments are available to help you tailor this system to your exact requirements. I purchased this whetstone grinder as a replacement for an old Tormek 1205. I'm very impressed with the Dakota machine because, as well as having a metal body rather than a plastic one, it also has variable torque allowing me to sharpen the large plane irons that would cause my Tormek to stall. I can even use my existing tormek jigs with the Dakota machine!

As a professional woodturner I need sharp tools and this grinder does the job perfectly. It even puts fine, sharp edges on gouges and skew chisels. Very good value for money and would definitely recommend this to any woodturner. The turning tool jig makes gouges very easy to sharpen.

This machine should come with the Diamond Truing Tool included. Out of the box, the stone was not parallel with the guide, hence the chisels ended up out of square, but nice and sharp. The Diamond Truing Tool sorted this problem out and all is now perfect. Apart from that complaint, the machine is nice and quite, makes no mess and has a handy guide for setting the angle of the chisel. I expected water spray, but there is none. I would give the machine 3/5 out of the box, but 5/5 with the addition of the Diamond Truing Tool. A very good investment.
