This innovative new tool sharpener is set to become a firm favourite with home woodworkers. Addressing many of the problems encountered with other grinders on the market, the Work Sharp tool sharpener is easy to use, requires the minimum amount of setting up, offers fully repeatable results and does not require the user to purchase, often costly, sharpening jigs. Powered by a 1/5 hp induction motor, this grinder is extremely quiet in operation and will even sharpen axes and lawn mower blades without stalling. A dry sharpening system, this machine has a special airflow which routes over the blade being sharpened to ensure it does not overheat. This has an obvious advantage over wetstone systems as the tool does not come into any contact with water. Two tool ports give access to the underside of the wheel where most smaller blades are sharpened. The first of these ports is specifically designed for chisel and plane blades up to 1 5/8" in width. A fixed tool rest in this port is angled to enable a precise, fully repeatable bevel of 25o to be sharpened on to the blade. The tool rest itself is diamond coated to remove the burr and also doubles as a heat sink for fast dissipation of any heat build up within the tool. A second port is designed for the sharpening of carving and woodturning chisels. Used in conjunction with the slotted wheel and abrasives this port gives you a new perspective on sharpening. The wheel acts in a similar way to a zoetrope, so at high speed you can actually see the tool or, more importantly, the tool edge you are sharpening. This allows you to sharpen gouges more accurately because you can see what you are doing rather than having to rely on a jig that you hope is set up correctly. For much larger blades, such as planer knives and cabinet scrapers, there is a top mounted tool rest which allows the upper surface of the grinding wheel to be used. The top and tool ports of the tool sharpener are made from die cast aluminium and the body and base of the machine are impact resistant plastic to eliminate vibration and features bench mounting tabs. This excellent system makes dry sharpening safe again for all those specialist tool steels. We're impressed and think you will be too. Specially for the UK market, this fully CE certified machine features a high torque motor. This system comes with edge vision wheel and abrasives pack and is now packaged with the 2009 Knife Sharpener. The WS2000 machine is provided with a 2 year warranty.
The included 2009 knife sharpening accessory will put a "scary sharp" edge on all types of knives, from pen knives to kitchen knives and will even re-sharpen serrated blades. The attachment fits on to the WS2000 and utilises the centre spindle to drive a narrow abrasive belt through the included knife guide. This guide holds the blade at the correct angle against the belt producing a slight convex grind on the blade. A convex grind rather than the usual concave grind allows the blade to stay sharper for much longer. By using a guide in this way, a consistent grind is produced along the length of the blade for a superior cutting performance. Abrasive belts are available in various grit sizes allowing the sharpener to perform all stages of sharpening from re-shaping and establishing an edge to final honing and polishing. This kit comes supplied with three belts 1 x P120 coarse grit belt, 1 x P220 medium grit belt and 1 x 3600 fine grit belt. ©

Using the kife sharpener kit is so easy, The system makes all knives sharper than when purchased, and strangly safer as they slice rather than slip. I have sharpened lots of knives for friends and relatives and all are amazed, i think it true to say that you may have to keep at a few knives as rubbing them against a stone as some people do to get an edge needs some work, but I have done just that and brought it back to its correct angle withy a fine edge not a brick seratted edge. Well worth it. Now its included in a discounted deal with the WS2000 you cannot lose.

Wonderful bit of kit, I've been waiting for over a year for this to hit our shores. 10 minutes out of the box, and I had an old set of chisels as good as new. Read the manual, on my first attempt, the chisel was getting warm, my own fault, keeping chisel in contact with wheel for longer then recommended. But the old chisels are now VERY SHARP. Best buy I’ve made for my workshop in years.

I got this machine as I needed an easy way to sharpen my chisels on the job. Its a great alternative to a bench grinder and much easier to use and will sharpen large blades as well as chisels. When sharpening, you can really feel the airflow over the chisel and this machine gets the tool extremely sharp without making it hot. The papers are easy to apply and remove but I would recommend buying extra wheels to save time.
