The 2 1/2 inch dust extraction kit is good, but could do with a few more couplers. And the additional couplers from Rutland are a bit on the pricey side.

great value for money but as other reviewers have said the 90 bends are rubbish RUTLANDS you need to sort this out.

Mark Popovic

Great kit generally. The 90 deg elbows are useless unless you're prepared to cut them open and re-bore them. I didn't need them at all for my set up which now does my chop saw, router, drill press, floor sweep and planer/thicknesser connected up to a Lumberjack vacuum. Works a treat. Planning on paper is key to using the shortest runs and least parts. I have four whole tubes left over. I have all my blast gates mounted as close as possible to each other and the vacuum. I mounted all bar one on the main horizontal tubing run so that the gate flaps drop downwards in the vertical plane so that dust doesn't accummulate in the gate slot. One vertical run goes up and over the roof beam of my garage to come down onto the planer. The little accumulation I get at the bottom of the vertical T connector is easily flushed by simply opening the last blast gate in my main tubing run. Note the T connectors are not as pictured but slightly longer on one side. This is really useful as it gives you clearance for a closely fitted gate so the flap doesn't foul. All in all a very good job for not much bunce but you will need a surprising amount of flexi hose to connect all these machines and a floor sweep. I bought 5m cheap off Amazon and will need probably another metre or two. Also check and plan what adapters your tools are going to use. I happened to have a pretty comprehensive set of different sized reducers which happened to come with my vac. If you had to buy them all seperately it would have cost a pretty penny.

Not a bad set, but 16 tube connectors are not enough when you consider - if you use all the connectors and tubes - you'll need 25 of them. At £6.95 each, that's expensive - especially when the blast gates are £5.95 (surely this is a pricing error, or you get more than 1 for £6.95?). Similarly, I'm not sure the design of the 90-degree bend is particularly good. Personally, a redesign of the couplings to allow the tubes to fit inside them without the need for couplings would improve things enormously - and would then warrant 5 stars.

agree good item; but also agree the 90 degree bends are poor and restrict airflow. i opened them out by cutting them at the 45degree point, rasping the wall back to wall thickness of other connectors, then gluing back together with solvent glue. bit of a faff, and should not be necessary.

every organisation has occasional problems; the mark of a good organisation is that they sort them quickly. come on Rutlands, do your stuff!

I bought this package while it was on special offer and I am generally pleased with it. I didn't have enough to complete my set up, so ordered another which worked out cheaper than buying the individual items I needed to complete, with half the kit left over as spares. My only complaint is the quality of the 90 degree bends, really poor quality and different construction to the rest of the package. I ordered a couple of extra bends and the quality of these are first class, why are they not included in the first place Rutlands? instead of the rubbish ones!

A great basic kit to get started with, depending on your use you are likley going to need extra stuff though. Apart from a few extras (mainly blast gates) and hosing I was able to connect 7 machines and have 3 spare outlets dotted around for adhoc use.

There are not enough corners as many people have commented but to be honest the ones in this kit are nowhere near as good as the individual corners and blast gates rutlands sell. My main gripe is that they are the same thickness as the tube, hence the number of connectors, I had thought those were intended to join tubes to each other, the separate corners (and gates) fit onto the tube directly. I bought a few extra and also used hosing to connect tubes around awkward areas.

If you are buying extra corners the 90 degree ones reduce the pressure a bit, try going with 45 degree ones were possible. This is a general comment, not restricted to those in this kit mind.

Peter Cooper

Good product but let down by poor moulding on the 90 degree elbows. The moulding reduces in size at the bend from 55mm internal diameter to about 35 mm internal diameter severely reducing air flow. There is no similar problem with the 45 degree bends.

Barry Simms

Just finished (almost) fitting out my workshop with this kit. It is easy to fit, albeit some of the joints are a little tight. Like everyone else who has bought this kit from Rutlands or elsewhere, there are just not enough 90 degree bends! Hence cannot finish fitting yet. I know loads of people have complained about this but nothing has changed. Still recommend though.

Brilliant Ducting System For The Smaller Workshop. Currently Running 3 Machines On This System. Would Like More Bends In The Kit But Still Great Value For Money
