Product Details
This edge float file was originally designed for use on wooden planes. Only the edge of the file features any teeth and this makes it ideal for cleaning and filing narrow grooves and dadoes. As with all of the other files in this range, the single sided edge float file features ultra sharp ridges rather than teeth that plane the wood away rather than split and tear it. This leaves a perfectly smooth finish to your work that will require no further sanding. The edge float file features a handle with a rubberised grip.
Made in Japan. These carving files are the best we have ever tried and from the outset proved themselves worthy of the excellent reputation they hold worldwide. Requiring very little pressure from the user, these files cut very quickly and leave a clean, smooth surface in their wake. Look closely at the surface of one of these files and the reason for this soon becomes apparent. Each blade is made up of a series of chemically etched ridges rather than individual teeth. Grooves are cut at regular intervals along each ridge to form a diagonal pattern that runs the length of the blade. This combination of ridges and grooves makes the surface of the file act like it is made up of hundreds of tiny blades that plane the surface of the wood instead of scratch it away. The resultant finish is astounding.©

This is my new favourite toy. It makes grooves more accurately that I could ever achieve with a saw. I use it for making the grooves for sliding lids on boxes and wooden pencil cases. Love it!
