Product Details

Bevel edge chisels are the general workhorse of the workshop with the versatility to complete the majority of chiselling tasks. These chisels are made in Germany from the highest quality German chrome vanadium steel and are hardened to Rc-61 along the entire length of their mirror polished blades. This means the blades will retain a sharp edge for longer and, unlike cheaper chisels, the last inch of the blade will hold as sharp an edge as the first inch does. The blade has a long tang which ensures the blade is secured firmly in the handle.

Made from European hornbeam, specially selected for its straight grain and hardwearing nature, the handles are shaped to give a tool that feels well balanced and comfortable in the hand. Steel reinforcing bands at the top and bottom of the handles prevent them from splitting or spreading when struck with a mallet. Available in a range of sizes, these chisels have an overall length of 244mm - 310mm.

Made entirely in Germany from the highest quality materials, MHG chisels come from the centuries old traditions of fine tool making but are produced using the very latest forging and hardening processes. This gives a chisel that is extremely efficient and incredibly reliable. The blades are premium quality German chrome vanadium; a metal that has a much higher resistance to metal fatigue than other tool steels and is perfect for tools that are designed to be struck with a mallet. Each blade is tempered and hardened to RC-61 along its entire length, giving a blade that will take and hold a razor sharp edge as well at the end of its working life as it did when new.

The handles are made from slow growing European hardwoods selected for their straight grain and strength. Supported by a steel band, the handles will not spread or split in use and offer exceptional support to the deep seated tangs. Precision ground and sharpened before they leave the factory, MHG chisels are built for hard work and perform flawlessly.

brilliant chisels. I bought the 6 pc set and went back for the 40mm... very good quality tools.

the steel is a little soft for my liking, but at least it sharpens quickly.

cannot fault the construction though and they feel lovely in hand. backs didn't take too much flattening and the factory are clearly skilled at only picking straight grain blanks.

heartil recommend these chisels - especially for beginners as they're so close to being ready right out of the box.
