Product Details

Hand forged by a master blacksmith, kozuchi hammers offer exceptional driving power for their weight and will outperform heavier hammers with little effort from the user. Despite their asymmetrically mounted heads, the hammers are perfectly balanced in use. This off centre mounting gives the hammer excellent directional stability in use making the hammer feel like a genuine extension to your arm. These hammers have Japanese white oak handles. The 290g hammer is 210mm in length, the 600g hammer is 300mm in length. In Japanese woodworking, metal headed hammers are used for everything from driving chisels and carving tools to setting plane irons and assembling joints. The construction of Japanese hammers differs greatly to the hammers familiar to us in the West making them much more effective for their size. Special hardening processes combined with head shape and handle length ensures that more of the energy from the hammer is transfered to the item being struck with considerably less recoil. This results in less user fatigue and greater comfort in use.
