Product Details

Engineered from a solid piece of aluminium with solid brass fitments this dado jig allows you to route precise grooves and dadoes either fully through or stopped. It is designed to work with any straight edge up to 16mm thick and up to 65mm wide and glides effortlessly along the straight edge due to the two roller bearings on one face and the low friction plate on the other.

On the side of the jig are three etched graduations that line up to your pencil line where you wish your groove to be cut. You use the large graduation when routing with a 1/2" diameter plunge bit, the middle graduation with a 3/8" plunge bit and the small graduation with a 1/4" plunge bit. If you wish to cut a wider groove you simply use the metric scale, graduated in 1mm increments on the face, to set your desired groove width.

The jig is supplied with an 18mm internal diameter brass guide bush that precisely fits into the hole in the jig body. Simply attach the guide bush to your router, insert the bush into the jig and plunge the router bit into the workpiece. The smooth controlled movement along the straight edge allows you to route clean feather free through or stopped dadoes.

This is an exceptional simple yet precise method of routing grooves and dadoes without having to move large workpieces over a table saw or router table. This aluminium jig measures 200mm x 100mm x 20mm. Highly recommended.

I needed to route a 12mm groove in a 1 metre long oak cupboard base board. Normally I would use a clamping guide and run the router against the guide. The risk is that you rely on keeping the router pressed against the guide at a constant pressure to ensure a straight cut. This jig eliminates that worry and lets you dial in and set up to exact measurements. Pricey yes but not if you compare to a ruined base board.

This is a very simple concept and solves the issue of routing grooves in straight lines. I use the jig with my old Elu MOF96e router and a 50" clamp grip guide. You basically can not go wrong provided that your clamp guide does not slip in use. 5 stars for me for simplicity.
