Product Details

Featherboards are an essential accessory for any router table. Acting like a spare pair of hands they keep the wood against the table and fence for more accurate results. Featherboards have their limitations, however. Exerting force in one direction only, you need to use both table and fence mounted featherboards to keep your work flat against the table and square against the fence. Depending on the size of your table and the size of your work, this isn't always practical or even possible especially when working with larger pieces. This is where these new Clear Cut Stock Guides come into their own.

Doing the work of both fence and table mounted featherboards in one, these stock guides mount onto any standard 6mm T-track as found on most commercially available fences and can be fitted to any user made fence using the optional fixing kit (Part No. 4215A). Using the same principle as a powered stock feed, the infeed roller is angled at 5 degrees to the fence so when the wood runs underneath it not only does it hold the wood down to the table, it also pulls it in to the fence. This ensures the wood is both flat to the table and firmly up against the fence during cutting for the most accurate results. One way needle roller bearings in the guides allow the wood to travel in one direction only, preventing kickback.

These guides have a full 69mm of total adjustment and the maximum stock thickness these guides will accept is from the surface of your router table to 14mm below the centre point of your fence's T-track. Designed to remain fixed on to the fence these guides simply lift out of the way when not needed. Easy to set up, all you need to do is position your timber against the fence, drop the rollers down onto the timber and fix them in place with the single locking knobs and you're ready to rout. Especially useful when working with long pieces of timber, these rollers are the extra pair of hands you need when routing.

* Please note the plastic guard shown is part of the 4010 Jessem Mast R Fence II and is not included with the stock guides

I've owned a pair of these for a couple of years now and find them faultless. Everything that can be said has been said in previous reviews. Coupled with the Jessem router table and fence (of which the plastic guard is a part) they are superb. Well done Rutlands 5 star.

Really easy to fit and a pleasure to use. I was always worried about kick back and not being able to maintain a constant pressure on the wood. These guides solved all that and my router table is now so easy to use with no worries.

I have just used these for the first time to cut about 120m of mouldings on strips of timber 70mm wide. Installation is easy. It took a while to relax and realise that the wood doesn't need to be firmly pushed against the fence as these additions will do it for you! As feather boards they are great - you set the hold down force and they do the rest. The wheels only turn in one direction so the wood can't get kicked back. The wheels run at a slight angle to pull the wood to the fence as the wood is pushed through - I detected that on very smooth wood like MDF, there was a possibility that the wheels would be less effective at pulling in...especially if covered in dust...but even then, they remained a very effective way of preventing kick back and holding the wood firmly down.
So I'm very pleased with these items. They aren't cheap but then I've only got one set of fingers and these definitely assisted the through put of timber and helped make the process safer.
If you can justify the cost, then based on my experience so farr, I'd say they are a worthwhile addition to a router table set up and as a consequence would recommend them.
