Product Details

The new Xact series of chucks are the latest advancement in work holding systems for the discerning woodturners. This 4" woodturning chuck is precision engineered and beautifully balanced and offers a superior performance combined with rock-solid holding power and excellent load bearing capability.

Xact chucks are specifically designed so the jaws will cut into the wood to provide high tear-out strength, unlike some other woodturning chucks that use engineering jaw profiles which crush the wood fibres and do not securely grip the workpiece. The design of this Xact chuck ensures that the workpiece sits as close as possible to the headstock therefore reducing load on the main headstock bearing and minimising vibration when turning large or heavy workpieces. Measuring 95mm in diameter and weighing over 3kg, this chuck can be used on all sizes of lathe from large capacity professional lathes through to midi and mini lathes. The chuck body is threaded to 1" x 8tpi and comes with a precision machine reducer to allow for use with lathes with a 3/4" x 16tpi spindle thread.

Engineered from medium tensile steel, this chuck is strong and durable and features a precision machined scroll mechanism and high ratio gearing for a strong grip irrespective of work piece size. The jaws open and close using a T-handled key, allowing for one handed operation, leaving one hand free to support and balance your workpiece. The 24 hole indexing ring at the rear of the chuck allows for decorative work to be performed. Sold as a kit, this chuck comes with one small chuck key and a wide array of jaws allowing for pen turning, spindle turning, bowl turning, goblets and candlesticks and much more. The chuck comes with standard dovetail jaws, large dovetail jaws, pin and stepped jaws which offer both compression and expansion gripping, button jaws complete with both long and short pegs and a woodscrew.

Presented in an aluminium camera-style carry case the kit has dedicated foam cut outs, so there is no excuse for leaving jaw sets lying around the workshop when not in use. This is without doubt the finest chuck system we have ever offered and represents exceptional value for money. It even comes with a host of spare jaw screws in the event that you loose the occasional one when changing jaws. If you're looking for the finest chuck on the market look no further. Highly Recommended.

Super chuck kit. Does exactly what it says on the can.

Mr J T

Fantastic chuck. Every thing you need in one case. Good build quality, good finish on the jaws and runs true. Be careful though not to over tighten the jaw screws - they are a difficult to undo if over tightened. I recommend

I looked at the Nova, Axminster and the Record but this one offered far more jaws than the others at considerably less money. So far it has not let me down. It seems well engineered and the jaws open and close smoothly each time. I've turned a goblet with a 5mm diameter stem so that should tell you a lot. I definitely would buy again.

Great piece of kit. I am using mine on a Record No 3 lathe. So far I have turned a 14" bowl and it worked a treat even when initially roughing out. Runs true and I like the fact that no dust or debri can enter the rear of the chuck.
