Product Details

This is our best selling set of waterstones and is always a welcomed addition to a woodworker's workshop or professional kitchen. Consisting of 3 stones this collection will allow for the initial reshaping of a dulled edge using the 600 grit stone, through to adding a finely honed edge using the 3000 grit waterstone. Favoured by cabinetmakers and chefs throughout North America these stones can be used on exceptionally hard tool steels such as HSS carving tools, A2 tool steel commonly found on premium performance plane blades and Japanese white paper steel favoured for kitchen knives. The soft bonding compound releases the suspended abrasive particles very easily for rapid, clog free cutting.

Measuring 180mm x 60mm x 14mm these stones are supplied with a wrap around soft rubber base that protects and prevents the stone from wandering during sharpening. These waterstones consist of aluminium oxide, carbide and nitride particles all fused together. Simply soak the stone in a bowl of cold water for 1 to 2 minutes prior to use. After sharpening ensure the stone is dry prior to storage. An excellent collection for both the amateur or professional tool user. The green 600 grit stone is now sold in light blue. Set of 3 contains 600 grit, 1000 grit and 3000 grit waterstones.

Fantastic value for these really good stones. Came the next day and I went to the kitchen sharpen all the knifes, then to the garage for sharpen the planes and chisels. With the 3000 grit you get a really fine finish.

I have been using these Waterstones regularly for well over a year and find them to be as effective as the more expensive stones I own. I definitely recommend them.

Great set of stones . Just started using stones and these are perfect . Really helped me hone my skill because there's little effort to get results on my plane iron's and chisel's . GET A SET , YOU WONT BE DISSAPOINTED .

These stones are a pleasure to use. We all want to be craftsmen: properly sharpened hand tools makes it posslble

Bought to use with my newly purchased Japanese knife. Needed it's edge finishing when it came out the box and the 3000 grit stone brought it out like a razor. Great price in comparison to whats on the market and good quality.

Fantastic set of stones at a great price!

The included rubber bases are very grippy, so no worries about them moving away while you're sharpening.

I'll never go back to oil stones now I've tried wet stones, so much better.

Good stones with good size. Nice finish and seem to keep their shape. Anti-slip rubber casting is a nice touch.

Patrick Hawes

Very good value for money, decent size stones and help to give a good edge, the rubber base is a nice inclusion and works nicely keeping it stable. Personally I'd prefer a finer stone as well but as a starter kit this is excellent.

I have a number of Hock plane blades that I regularly honing and sharpen. In the past I have used diamond stones however they can be very aggressive and in my opinion can damage the structure of the steel making the cutting edge brittle and short lived.Having purchased these Chinese stones and spent some time testing them out on an old Veritas A2 blade I am able to achieve extremely sharp blades whilst maintaining the strength of the blade. The secret is take your time and not to exert pressure on the blade or the stone. Let the stones particles gradually create the edge. To final hone the edge remove any stone swarf and gently move the edge over the stone with minimal pressure. Excellent.

I was recommended by my cooking school to look at these stones for sharpening a set of Japanese kitchen knives that I had bought from a well known retail department store. As no instructions are available I watched a few You Tube videos on water stone sharpening. I soon learnt the basics and can now put a fine edge on to my knives.

Excellent water stones so far. They compare favourably with my Ice Bear stone that cost twice as much as this set of 3. Only used twice so hard to comment on their longevity.

Ian Walker

Bought these to sharpen a very old set of Marples boxwood bevel edge chisels. I started with the 400 grit to add back the 25 degree angle and then finished the edge with the 3000 grit stone. Very impressed and well worth the outlay.
